The Bar: A Monopolistic Special Interest Group

In a free society, I choose the organization from which I buy groceries, gas, insurance and more.  Why then must I be forced to buy legal services from only one organization--The Bar?

Isn't it at least a little immoral that The Bar uses its monopolistic leverage to charge immorally high fees?  We all know people who have basically been gouged and ripped off by lawyers.  I realize that these people have worked hard through many credit-hours of schooling, but they're not doctors.

They are supposed to advise, and in a sense aid in our learning of the system.  Instead they want to take over your case making, sure you are out of the picture not learning anything.

They may be helpful in settling disputes, but if everyone knew how to research laws and knew court procedures, they would be less likely to get into disputes.

State legislatures are one cornerstone of The Bar's awesome power. Most of the members of these governmnent bodies are lawyers and they also have a judicial group in the capitols that advise the layperson.

In a blatant conflict of interest, they set the school curriculum so that it excludes the teaching law and court high procedures. Just like priests in the Middle Ages, The Bar relies on planned ignorance.  But then the peoples of Europe rose up and had their Protestant Reformation after a thousand years of economic persecution.

Please help in having our schools teach law and court procedures.
